What to Expect During Our Door Refinishing Process
THE INITIAL ESTIMATE
Our process always starts with a free, no-obligation inspection of your doors at a convenient date and time. After we assess the door's current condition, we will provide an estimate and recommend a plan of action.
The physical processes from start to finish will take, based on the door's intricacies, from 5 to 7 days.
TRANSPORTING YOUR DOOR
Upon agreement, we will set up the first part of the actual physical process: the date of your door removal and its replacement with solid and secure temporary doors.
We will transport your doors to our location, where they will be kept and handled in an indoor, secure, and controlled environment.
MAKING YOUR DOOR LOOK LIKE NEW
The door's old finishes and stain will be 100% removed. We will expose the raw wood. We will then thoroughly clean the door and professionally fill in crevices, cracks, splits, or imperfections.
Once the door is dry, we will apply two coats of stain. After that, we will apply four additional coats of finish. After each coat, we will sand with a progressively lighter sandpaper grit.
INSTALLING YOUR NEW DOOR
New door bottom rubber “sweeps” will be applied and secured at the bottom of the door. We will then transport your door back to your location and install it. Lastly, we install the original locking hardware or provide new locking hardware to complete the process.
